About B1 Sprechen

B1 Sprechen (b1sprechen.com) is an independent online simulation of the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 speaking exam (Modul Sprechen). You practise all three parts of the exam on your computer, with AI examiners and an AI partner, and afterwards get feedback on what you said.

What B1 Sprechen is

After 15 minutes of preparation you speak the three parts in exam order: planning something together, giving a presentation, talking about a topic. Two examiners lead the conversation and a partner takes the role of the second candidate: they make suggestions, give their own presentation and ask you questions. All three are AI voices. After the full simulation you get feedback with quotes from your conversation and can listen to it again.

Teil 1 and Teil 3 need someone to talk to. If you study without a course or a tandem partner, you can hardly practise these parts out loud – that is what B1 Sprechen is for.

The full simulation is paid: you pay once for a pack, there is no subscription.

What B1 Sprechen is not

  • Not an official exam and not a service of the Goethe-Institut or telc gGmbH: B1 Sprechen is not affiliated with either.
  • Not a marking service: no marks, no prediction of whether you will pass, and no pronunciation assessment.
  • Not real exam tasks: tasks, topics, examples and phrases are our own.
  • Not a replacement for talking with people or for lessons.

How the content is made

  • The format, parts and timings of the exam come from the exam providers' public documents: for Goethe the Durchführungsbestimmungen (exam regulations) and the Modellsatz (sample paper), for telc Deutsch B1 the documents of telc gGmbH. The exam pages link these sources.
  • The examiners and the partner are played by AI models from external providers. After the simulation ends, an AI model writes the feedback from your conversation. AI can mishear or get things wrong; see the AI notice.
  • The practice material and the feedback have not been reviewed by teachers so far. If you spot a mistake, write to us – we will look into it and correct it.
  • The exam and practice pages show when their content was last updated.
